Give it Up for Lent!

Is it Lent already? Alma Council Knights of Columbus, will again sponsor a food drive during lent, to help the local food pantry. If you are looking for an opportunity to deepen your commitment to Christ and to your community, this food drive is perfect. This year, the Pantry is in need of cereal, canned soups, and canned fruit. However, any donation is welcome. We have a collection box in the back of church for your donations.

All are welcome to participate. When you place your donation in the box, say a little prayer, (the special gift only you will know about)

Thank you for helping make a difference to those in need.

Quilting Group

St. Lawrence quilting group will start meeting again on Wed, Feb 18 at 1:00pm. They meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays in the church basement. Anyone is welcome to join! Any questions call Louise at 608-685-4188.

PCCW Women's Retreat

Ladies, this year's Embracing Your Call to Holiness Women's Retreat is on Sat, Mar 14 at St. James the Greater Parish, 2502 11th St. Eau Claire, WI. This year's theme is "Women Evolving Through our Faith and the Importance of the Eucharist.

More information is posted on the bulletin board. Please let Darlene Auer 715-495-5544 or Joette Gillette 507-860-1701 know by Tue, Feb 10 if you are interested in attending. Our PCCW has agreed to cover the registration fee for our members.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

C-FC Food Shelf

If you need food assistance, we would like to direct you to C-FC Area Food Shelf located at St. John’s Church 303 Hill St in Fountain City. The hours are 1st and 3rd Mondays at 4:30-6:30pm and 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm.

Lent Books

There are The Magnificat Lenten Companion books available in the back of church. They have Daily readings & Meditations for Lent. We have plenty.

Ecumenical Spring Tea

The Ecumenical Spring Tea is on Sun, Mar 1 at 1:30pm. It is being hosted by St.Lawrence PCCW, but it will be held at St. John's Parish Hall. Katie Griep has gracious offered to sing for us. Come and enjoy the company of others, beautiful music and wonderful homemade scones.

Lenten Soup & Sandwich Meal

The PCCW's Soup and Sandwich Luncheon will start this Tuesday. The menu for this week, Feb 24, will be Chicken Noodle Soup, Ham Sandwiches, cake and veggies & Dip. This year proceeds will go to the "Angel Fund" the name CFC food service gives to monies donated to help kids who forgot their money or do not have enough money for a hot lunch or breakfast. There are more in our community that needs this service than expected.

These meals will be held after the 5:30pm mass in Hansen Hall (church basement). All are welcome. Quilt and Basket Raffle Tickets will be available before and after mass. One chance for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00.

Religious Education: 1st-6th Grade Students

The 1st-6th grade students meet every Wednesday after school until 5pm at St. Mary's Parish Life Center in Fountain City.

Stations of the Cross

The Way of the Cross will be said every Friday followed by mass. 8:00am-St. Lawrence, 11:00am-St. Boniface, 5:00pm-Immaculate Conception.

World Day of Prayer

Fri, Mar 6 is the World Day of Prayer. St. Lawrence PCCW will be hosting the ecumenical service at St. John's Parish. A short program written by the women of Nigeria will be at 1:00pm followed by bars, cookies and beverages.

If you are planning on getting married in this year or next, you will need to take a Marriage Prep class. There will be one offered for our deanery on Sat, Mar 7 at Holy Family of Arcadia, Wi. Reserve your spot by calling 608-323-7116.
