Dear people of God,

Today, we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ! This event is the greatest event in our Catholic faith. It is through the resurrection that Christ defeated sin and death and opened for us the gates to eternal life. A journey that began sorrowfully on Ash Wednesday has ended joyfully toady. Light has eventually overcome darkness and we have seen the glory of Christ.

Good morning to you! On this fifth Sunday of Lent, the readings focus on God's covenant with us, even though we are often unfaithful. The first reading speaks of a new covenant. that the Lord will make a new covenant with them, planting the law within their hearts. “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Juda… “I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jer 31:31-33).

Laetare (Rejoice) Sunday

Dear People of God,

Good morning to you all. The Fourth Sunday of Lent is called Laetare (Rejoice) Sunday, from the first words of today’s liturgy. It calls us to rejoice in the hope of our salvation through the grace of God in Christ Jesus.

Our first reading of today presents the wrath as well as the mercy of God. These are revealed in both, the exile and liberation of his people. Three complaints were made against Israel and their leaders. These include: “That they were unfaithful; they defiled the temple; and, they laughed at the prophets.” This merited them deportation and exile.

Keep God's Commandments

Dear people of God,

Good morning to you all. As we continue our journey this season, the readings this third Sunday of Lent, help us understand that we must follow God’s commandments and truly live them in our hearts to find life.

In our First Reading from the Book of Exodus, God delivers the Ten Commandments. He commands to not worship any gods besides Him, “For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God.”
