FROM OUR PASTOR

Lost and Found

09-15-2019Father Prince Raja

In this Gospel passage of today Luke has put together three parables all stressing the dynamic of lost and found. The point the evangelist is making in each case is the generous willingness God demonstrates in accepting back the repentant sinner. In the first parable the repentant sinner is symbolized in the lost sheep. The second parable focuses on the lost coin. The third parable presents a younger son and an elder son both of whom are lost. Luke makes it clear in each case, whether the man or the woman or the father, who assertively go after what is lost until found.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sacristans Needed

Our parishes are in desperate need of Sacristans. Sacristans assist and work under the direction of the pastor and deacon to prepare for Mass and help maintain the Sanctuary. Duties include setting the Lectionary and Sacramentary for Mass; setting out enough hosts and wine for the consecration; setting out clean hand towels, purificators and corporals; ensuring that all the liturgical ministers have arrived for Mass.

A Sacristan should have knowledge of the Liturgical Calendar and the proper process for cleaning ciboria, and chalices. Additionally, it is helpful for a Sacristan to have understanding of special celebrations in the Church. Sacristans generally arrive at Mass 30 minutes prior to Mass to set up and stay 30 minutes afterward to see clean-up has been completed.

These ministries are opened to anyone (Male or Female) who has been confirmed and attend Mass regularly or weekly at one of our three parishes. Sacristan training will be provided for those interested.

If you are interested in becoming a sacristan, please contact Deacon Wendt or Lori Wendt; 626-2611 ext. 3 or deaconwendt@gmail.com.
