    FROM OUR PASTOR

What We Are, Instead of What We Ain’t

    07-02-2017Fr. Brian Jazdzewski

Either I should read more books, or the ones I’m reading are really good. I’ve experiences some reawakening following my read of The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope by Austen Ivereigh. My read of his book, coincided well with my anniversary of ordination. The timing also fell along with our annual Priest Unity Days and our Diocese of La Crosse priesthood ordinations. All of that lead in is to suggest that I’ve been reflecting upon 18 years of priesthood and even back into the 8 years of studies before being ordained. And, to push back a little further, I’ve been reflecting upon my experience of American Catholicism throughout my life. I join many people in realizing that our Church has changed; and will continue to change. Each of us ought to be asking the question about how we are also changing and being faithful to the one who called us from our Baptism.

    Religious Education – Confirmation

Greetings Confirmation Students, Parents and Parishioners: Our summer break is flying by and this fall our parish cluster will have 14 students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. We look forward to witnessing our students get sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. This will strengthen our students to continue their service to the Body of Christ.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church we as parents and family members must support them on their journey to the sacrament of Confirmation. “In every program of religious education and in every Catholic school, the primacy of parents as educators in the faith is to be respected and stressed. Especially at the time of preparation for the reception of a Sacrament, parents should be fully engaged in the renewal of their own understanding of that Sacrament” (Synod V Acts n. 146).

It is very important that parents continue to guide their children during this Confirmation process while also renewing their own faith and their understanding of the Sacrament that our students are about to receive in October. Some ways to continue their guidance include: Participation in Sunday Mass, Daily Prayer, Developing a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit and learning more about the Norms of the Marriage and Christian life.

As students if you need any help or have any questions about the projects and hours due before the Sacrament of Confirmation please contact me, Amanda Burrow, Coordinator of Religious Education. You can reach me at the Immaculate Conception Parish Life Center Office at 608-687-8418 or treecclesiae.red@gmail.com.
