    A Little Cultural Promotion

    Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, male depression and male suicide. These four topics and others similar to them typically do not conjure up happy thoughts. Add to the above list cancer in general, often cancer treatment causes hair loss, and you get a sense of the recipe for the rationale as to why some men choose to grow facial hair during November. Add to that, some encouragement on some websites to discontinue trimming other bodily hair, like legs, and you can quickly come up with gender inclusive reasons for unkempt body hair during November.

    Alma Knights of Columbus 1st "Culture of Life" Bake Sale
    Dec 3

    Due to less and less items being donated the Council has decided to do a "No Bake Sale" fund raiser. Members can bring items or there will be a basket available for a cash donation. The 1st Sale will be for members from A-M, but anyone can donate.

    The next Monthly meeting will be Mon, Nov 27 at 7:00pm in the Church basement. The Knights are sponsoring "The True Meaning Of Christmas" contest for the youth again this year. They are also doing Fruit Bags for shut-ins, if you have someone that needs a visit and a bag, please notify Larry Glentz.

    Christmas Choir Practice

    An invitation is extended to all former St. Lawrence Church Choir members and to anyonewho enjoys singing to consider lifting up their voice in song this coming Christmas. There will be a weekly choir practicesheld at the Church of St. Lawrence on Monday evenings, beginning Mon, Dec 4 at 7:00pm. The choir will be singingfor the Christmas Midnight Mass (12:00 am) at St. Lawrence, Alma.

    Next PCCW Meeting is on Wed, Dec 6 at 5:00pm. We will tie up any loose ends with the Cookie Walk. If bad weather, the make-up date for the meeting will be on Thu, Dec 7 at 5:00pm.

    Ladies Fun Night
    Dec 6 6:00pm

    Ladies Fun Night will be on Wed, Dec 6 starting at 6:00pm. We will be getting ready for the cookie walk by making rosettes, fudge, etc. in the church kitchen. If you have a specialty item that you would like help making, please supply all the ingredients and any special utensils that are needed. Snacks will be provided. If bad weather on the Dec 6, the make-up date will be Thu, Dec 7 at 6:00pm.

    The Diocesan Televised Mass is filmed at various churches in the Diocese of La Crosse. This is available for those who are ill or homebound and are unable to attend Sunday Mass. You can view the Mass using the myParish app by tapping the TV Mass button, or view it on a computer at www.diolc.org/televised-mass. Here you will also find the broadcast schedule for a TV station in your area.

    Scouts earning Religious Emblems

    All Scouts wishing to earn their Religious Emblems for the 2016-2017 year should be working on them at this time. Allapplications are due by Tue, May 1.     Women’s Advent Retreat

    Women’s Advent Retreat will be held Dec 7-10 at Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh. We welcome women of allages to a weekend of peace and prayer at this Advent retreat. Lynn Reesman, retreat director, will guide us, helping us tofind the Spiritual gifts of the season and how to carry its meaning throughout the year. Give yourself a spiritual treat, onethat can strengthen us for the New Year.

    St. Lawrence PCCW Cookie Walk
    Dec 9 9:00am - 10:30am

    All ladies of our parish are asked to donate 6-8 dozen cookies. Cookies can dropped off at church on Fri, Dec 8 before 7:00pm or Saturday morning before 8:00am. In lieu of cookies, a donation of $25 is requested. We also need 2 volunteers fromeach study group to work from 7:30-11:30am that day. Please contact your study group leader if you are able to help.
