From Our Pastor

05-07-2023Weekly ReflectionFr. Aruldoss, Pastor

Dear People of God,

Good morning. First of all, I congratulate all the students who are going to receive First Holy Communion in this weekend Masses. I wish and pray that the gift of the Holy Eucharist will draw them into an unending friendship with the Lord and the choicest blessings upon them.

Again, I thank all those who attended the receptions about the “Inspired by the Spirit Capital Campaign” at Waumandee and Fountain City after the last weekend Masses. I also thank all the Chair persons & Committee Members of our Tri-parishes for arranging the receptions. Special thanks to all the TriParishes’ PCCW for providing light-food and desserts during the receptions. You will be hearing more about this Capital Campaign in the coming days. I pray and I am sure you all join me in praying that we reach the goals. All those who have got the pledge cards now, please do consider prayerfully to submitting them back either to our diocese or our parish offices.

The first reading of this fifth Sunday of Easter shows how disputes were resolved in the church’s early days. The Hellenist complained that their widows were not getting a fair share of the church’s social services. The apostles’ solution to the problem shows that changes are necessary for the good of the church. The solution shows two important dimensions of church life. living our Christian vocation requires a balance between prayer and service. Prayer and preaching the word was of primary importance to the apostles; but service to the widows and the needy in the community was also vital, so they appointed seven trusted men to attend to it, and initiated them by an evocative ceremony. As a result, the disciples in Jerusalem increased in numbers.

Each of us is personally called to prayer, to a dialogue of worship with God; and we are also called to service. Our God is concerned for all, interested in all and specially calling sinners back home. This welcoming God is the one that our church worships. Let us continue to renew our trust in Him through our prayer and service to our neighbors. Have a Happy Sunday!

May God Bless you all!!
