Eucharistic Adoration

08-18-2019Weekly ReflectionDeacon Edward Wendt

Dear Families,

I was praying about this the other day. You know what our parishes need? We need to spend more time in Eucharistic Adoration.

Eucharistic Adoration is the presence of oneself with our Lord Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, whether reposed inside the tabernacle, or exposed inside a monstrance.

Adoration allows for personal time to be spent with the real physical presence of Jesus Christ contained in the Eucharist. This is usually done within a period of one hour or otherwise referred to as a "Holy Hour." Privately one can pray in silent prayer, give praise to God for all His works and grace, and to absorb the peaceful presence of the Lord in our busy, noisy, and sometimes turbulent lives.

Coming to adoration people don't always have a clear motivation of what they are coming for but know that adoration provides a refuge from the rest of the world for a short time surrounded by God's love and peace. At Adoration people often bring a Bible or other devotional prayer books (of which some are available in the back of church) to read, and other say the Rosary or Divine Mercy chaplet to focus their minds on the true salvation of our Lord. Others may come just to sit or kneel for a moment in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have had several opportunities in the past for Holy Hour and Benediction, very few ever attended. In Lent we have had Stations of the Cross and Benediction, again very few attended.

Miracles happen in the presence of our Lord; Church attendance can grow, schools can become vibrant, people can be free from diseases, jobs can be found and the list goes on. My dear friends, most importantly inner peace will be found.

At Adoration, Jesus is waiting for you, so come and experience the presence and peace regardless of where you are in your path through life.

Holy Hour with Solemn Benediction will be offered again soon. Read the bulletin for future up dates.

Pax et Bonum,
Deacon Ed
